Me, who learnt at a very young age to master the art that belonged to my father, its artisan rules and the secrets of its materials, until I managed to shape, with my very own hands, my first mountain shoes - which I would wear throughout the woods and the paths of my beloved mountains."

This is how Nello Grossule recalls the times when, in 1937, helping his father repairing shoes,
he learnt shoemaking techniques and started to dabble in the creation of mountain shoes,
which Nello used to craft both for himself and his fellow villagers, and that were really appreciated thanks to his care and passion.

The plunge
It was the appreciation of his fellow villagers that got Nello Grossule to realize that the secret was to always increase the quality of his shoes. In the early 1950s, he decided to take the plunge and, using the money he had managed to save along with some sacrifice, bought a few machines, hired some employees and started his small artisan laboratory.
Experience becomes a brand
Nello, with his increasing experience, drew up new and innovative manufacturing techniques and started searching for even better materials, starting from the leather he still loves to choose personally. Over the years, his shoes become well known throughout Italy, and while his laboratory continues to hire new skilled workers, Nello decides to give life to the brand Gronell.
Family passion
Nowadays, the company is led by Nello’s sons, Fabio and Mario Grossule, who continue to create shoes with the same passion their father had, in their family shoefactory in the heart of Lessinia.

Hands have always been our most valuable resource, and our artisans’ eyes and know-how still run this ancient art, although technology has become essential in some steps of the making.
